Dr. Erik Otárola-Castillo Our faculty advisor is Dr. Erik Otárola-Castillo, seen here demonstrating how to make stone tools at last year's Goat Roast. Specialization Dr. Otárola-Castillo specializes in evolution, ecology, and diversity of behavior in prehistoric and modern populations of hunter-gatherers, as well as the effects that climatic change and food availability and distribution variation had on the diet of some of the first North American native populations. Dr. Otárola-Castillo uses biometrics, statistical and 3-D morphometrics software, Geographical Information Systems (GIS), and other quantitative methods in his research.
